Boy Scout Time

Two things that everyone knows about me: I am always hungry and always on the go!  Thankfully I’ve learned that I always need to be prepared.

Take this past weekend for example:  I love my parents dearly, however, we don’t always see eye-to-eye in the food department.  When I came home from golfing with my dad and grandpa, I was hungry.  All that was in the house was cereal, salad, and left over potatoes…no protein, no green veggies.  Thankfully I had brought home my shaker bottle and some protein powder.  I quickly showered, changed, grabbed one of my grandmother's "morning glory muffins" and threw together a shake. Healthy lunch on the go!

My job requires a lot of windshield time, which is not always exciting.  I always have dry roasted almonds or raisins in my car for a snack. Protein bars are also a great item to have in my car or my bag.  Some of my favorites are: Luna Protein bars (peanut butter and chocolate cherry almond are my go-to flavors), Clif mini bars (I like the 3 pack with blueberry crisp, oatmeal raisin walnut, and chocolate chip peanut crunch), and Clif MoJo bars (white chocolate macadamia and mountain mix).  The mini bars are great to throw in your purse, and are only 100 calories!

On days that I'm in the office or around the house, I like to have string cheese in my fridge, as well as Fage 2% greek yogurt (strawberry) and low fat cottage cheese.  I like to add a few blueberries or sliced strawberries to my cottage cheese.  I also like the Fage 0% yogurt with a little granola, touch of honey, and a few strawberries (do you see a strawberry trend?!).  My favorite fruits and veggies to grab and run? Baby carrots, celery, a small apple, bananas, pears, and grapes.  Tuna packets are great for an on-the-go snack/lunch too.
Lastly, I cannot go anywhere without a water bottle.  I also cannot go to bed without a cup of water next to my bed.

What are your favorite healthy, on-the-run snacks?! Is there anything you just cannot live without?
