No bake (protein) oat balls!

These are such a yummy snack! Plus they are healthy and easy to make, double bonus! Since they are no-bakes, the measurements don’t need to be exact.  With this recipe, I made 9 balls that were the size of an average ice cream scooper (the picture only shows 6…I kinda ate 3 of them before I thought about posting a blog about them!)

·         1 ½ cup oats
·         1 cup peanut butter
·         1 scoop protein powder (I used vanilla)
·         ¾ cup honey or agave nectar (You might want to use a bit less, depending on your level of sweetness)
 Additions:
·         Handful of dried cranberries (regular or golden raisins would be yummy too)
·         Small handful of mini chocolate chips (the mini ones work best for ice cream scoop sized balls)
·         Small handful of chopped walnuts (pecans would work)
·         1 teaspoon flax seed (doesn’t add flavor, but adds nutritional value!)

Mix everything together in a large bowl.  Use an ice cream scooper and a spoon to make evenly sized scoops and put them on a cookie sheet or plate.  I then put them in the fridge for a few hours.
Like I said, this is just a “base” recipe.  You can add/remove any of the additions.  I bet coco powder or chocolate protein powder would be yummy.  I’ve heard of some people adding coconut. Also, if you’re allergic to peanuts, you can use any type of nut butter.  And don’t tell my little sister that there is protein powder in these…she hates when I sneak it into recipes! ;-) ENJOY!!

  1. Rude! I do like the idea of a chocolate, coconut, walnut combo... minus protein powder

  2. LOL. You can't even taste the protein powder! Let me know if you make them with the coco and coconut.

  3. I might have to try. I need something to hold me over in the mornings before lunch. This looks like a winner! Maybe I can steal my boyfriend's protein powder?!
