A weekend of extremes

Well, I had a very interesting weekend to say the least. And before I tell you about it, yes, I do know that there was a huge, sad tragedy that happened on Friday too. Tomorrow is a day of blogger silence in support. I pray for the families of all the victims, I feel sad that there are people that just walk into a public place and take innocent lives.  It scares me.

What also scares me is the fact that someone was in my house Friday. Someone just walked up to my house, busted a window, stole some of my electronics, and left.  I felt completely violated, terrified, and angry. Someone just walked into my home (with muddy shoes!), and put my laptop, camera, iPad and some other items in a bag and walked right out.

It could have been worse. They could have taken Christmas gifts. They could have taken larger items. They could have stolen my identity (which I have changed all of that so if they try, they will be denied). I could have been home at the time. But thankfully, none of this happened.

However, I do want to let you guys know that I am without my personal laptop and my camera, which means my blogging will be minimal until I get back up and running. Thankfully I have a work laptop (which I'm not suppose to use for personal use, but my stuff was stolen and I can't just NOT check blogs!) so I can still do a few things.

But on a positive note, I have the best family a girl could ask for. After calling 911, I called my dad who immediately worked on calming me down and thinking of what to do next. He also called my mom, who called my sister and her fiance. Kyle (my future bro-in-law) was the first person at my house, and it was a relief to see a familiar face and to have someone give me a hug. Alicia was the next person at my house, she walked out of a work meeting to be with me. She also stayed until my mom could be there with me and cleaned up several things for me. My mom also dropped everything at work to drive the 2 hours to be with me. My mom was already planning on being at my house Friday evening to help me clean/cook/prep for my annual Christmas party on Saturday. I told her she didn't need to leave work to come up early, but she never listens to me anyway, especially when I'm freaking out. My family is amazing.

Speaking of the Christmas party, that was the extreme high of my weekend. It is so amazing to see a group of your friends and family in one place enjoying food, drinks, and conversation. Even though Friday and most of Saturday was spent running around like a crazy person (except the mani/pedi break my mom, sister, and I took!), Saturday night was perfect. I couldn't have done it without my mom's help. LOVE YOU MOMMA!

Another highlight of my weekend was receiving my gift from my Blogger Secret Santa! Dani from The Daily Dani completely spoiled me! She sent me 3 nail polishes, some hair ties for the gym, and the necklace I've been drooling over!! And her note card was probably the most fabulous stationary I have ever seen! Since I was out of town all week, and came home to a disaster, seeing the package in my mailbox was a huge bright spot! THANK YOU DANI!!!

I actually used the glitter polish on Saturday on my ring fingers for a little something extra! I LOVE IT!

Sorry for the poor quality photos! All I have right now is my phone camera....

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend

  2. That is horrible! I'm so glad that you are safe and they didn't get too much. I hope they catch him! Our neighbors were lucky and the caught the guy in the process. We have since installed an alarm system and I feel better. It's worth looking into and will help you feel more secure in your own home. Nothing like feeling violated!
