I am totally going to be "that girl" today. That girl who is completely anti-Valentine's Day. The girl who says "bah humbug" to all of the hearts and flowers and kissing couples. Why?! Well, I am single for the first time in 6 years. Yes, it sucks. But it needed to happen. I still love him. He's a good guy and I wish him the best. However, its hard to be in a relationship with someone who has no plans for moving forward with you. Its hard to have an (extremely) long distance relationship. Its also hard to be with someone when you give 80% and the other person gives 20%.
However, a long time ago, a wise guy friend once told me....
That same wise friend also sent me flowers yesterday to let me know that even though I'm newly single, I am still an amazing person and I deserve happiness and love. THANK YOU JEROD!!

My girlfriends and I used to refer to Valentine's Day as "Cave Day" in high school. Not really sure why, probably because we didn't have boyfriends (at least when we started the tradition). But now the three of them are each happily married, so I shall be celebrating Cave Day alone.
While I won't be celebrating Cave Day in an actual cave, I am currently driving 11 hours with my mom to visit my Mamie for the long weekend! She has been home from the hospital for almost a week now, but she still has a long recovery road. But I am so excited to see her face light up when she sees me!!
Even though I'm not in a relationship anymore, I realize that I have an amazing family and wonderful friends that really LOVE me. And I could not be more grateful. And since today is a "day of love," I do want to send out some love to all of you! I was SO surprised to notice that I now have 51 followers of this tiny little blog and I am beyond excited!
So, to those that are happily celebrating Valentine's Day with a significant other...good for you. To my single girls, Happy Cave Day!
