Literary Junkies Linkup

Pink Heels Pink Truck

I thought I would do something different for Friday...a post about books! I'm a big reader (check out my library card post) and my girl Taylor from Pink Heels Pink Truck does a literary linkup, so BAM! Here ya go!

1. What are you currently reading? Tell us about it.
I am currently finishing up Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, the first book in a 3 book series. Its not a "I can't put it down" book, but I've enjoyed it. I will most likely finish the series and see the movie (when its available on RedBox!)

Amazon Review: Ethan Wate is struggling to hide his apathy for his high school "in" crowd in small town Gatlin, South Carolina, until he meets the determinedly "out" Lena Duchannes, the girl of his dreams (literally--she has been in his nightmares for months). What follows is a smart, modern fantasy--a tale of star-crossed lovers and a dark, dangerous secret. Beautiful Creatures is a delicious southern Gothic that charms you from the first page, drawing you into a dark world of magic and mystery until you emerge gasping and blinking, wondering what happened to the last few hours (and how many more you're willing to give up). To tell too much of the plot would spoil the thrill of discovery, and believe me, you will want to uncover the secrets of this richly imagined dark fantasy on your own. --Daphne Durham

2. Recommend a book that has changed your perspective on life.

Wow, I don't think there has been a book that has "changed my perspective on life." I really wish I had an answer for this one, but I honestly don't. However, I'm open to suggestions because I could use some life changing perspective right now!

3. What book do you recommend the most to people?

Depends on what they like to read. Honestly, I'm obsessed with the Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin right now, and I am anxiously awaiting October for the third and final book to come out! If that's not your style, I found the adult adventure books Pretty Little Mistakes and Million Little Mistakes by Heather McElhatton to be fun, easy reads that you can read over and over (because each outcome is different!).

4. What are the top 3 books on your “to-read” list?

1. The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick (which will hopefully be waiting for me at the library when I return home!
2. Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. I read Gillian's Gone Girl but wasn't happy with the ending. I'm hoping she can redeem herself with this one.
3. The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin. It won't be available until October, but I will be first on the list to borrow it from the library!

5. What do you “do” while reading? (i.e. listen to music, eat) Any weird reading habits?
I usually read in bed...I don't think I have any weird habits. Maybe reading until I do the sleepy head-bob thing?? LOL!

Happy Friday! Any books that you are going to dig into this weekend?
