Tough Mudder - Attire

I know what you're thinking "Seriously, does she really think that style and mud go together?!"  YES I DO! It was actually my first concern (well, second concern, my first concern was dying!)  At first I though I would just wear some old clothes, but after doing some research myself, I learned that a cotton t-shirt is probably the last thing you want to wear for a Tough Mudder event.  Cotton will soak up water and mud, so its important to wear a synthetic material and items that are tight to your body.

I had purchased a pair of UnderArmor cold gear compression leggings a few weeks before the race. I knew wearing long pants was best for me to protect my legs while army crawling and climbing. Also, to keep my legs warm. I'm not convinced that the compression part did much for my muscles, but I'm glad the pants were tight to my legs and didn't get caught on anything.

Obviously, your attire is going to be based on the time of year and the weather forecast for your event. Since my event was in Kentucky in mid-October, the weather can be kinda unpredictable. The people who raced on Saturday were stuck with low 60s and a drizzle. The Sunday racers were much luckier with the morning starting overcast and in the mid-50s, then warming up to the high 60s-low 70s and sunshine!

I was able to wash out the mud from everything (except the extra pair of white socks that I had, but if I bleached them they might become white again.) Also, don't plan on wearing your shoes again. They will end up here after the race:

  1. I love your super coordinated outfit! The pink accents on the pants look great. And dang, you are so skinny!

    1. I didn't plan on being so matchy in the beginning, but it kinda took on a life of its own! And thanks for the compliment!!
