1. The NCAA chooses 64 teams to be put into a bracket and play each other. Technically, there are 68 teams, and play-in games, but that is too complicated (and dumb if you ask me) so we won't get into that.
2. Some teams are in the field of 64 because they won their conference championship, some are in the field of 64 because they are teams that proved themselves throughout the season as being potential championship teams.
3. The 64 teams are narrowed down to 32, then the Sweet 16, the Elite 8, the Final Four, and the last 2 teams left play each other for the NCAA Championship. This year the Final Four and the Championship game are to be played in Atlanta.

Saturday night is when the Final Four teams play. They are: Louisville vs. Wichita State and Michigan vs. Syracuse. If you paid attention last Random Wednesday, then you know I had a little shout out to my boys in orange (Syracuse). I am beyond excited that Syracuse beat my alma mater, Indiana in the Sweet 16, then went on to beat Marquette in the Elite 8...which is how they got to the Final Four.
Anyway, this is a HUGE deal and I am really excited. If Syracuse can beat Michigan, they will play in the NCAA Championship game on Monday night. I am REALLY hoping that happens. Syracuse won the championship in 2003, and I remember it like it was yesterday. I cried happy tears because I was SO excited that my team won. I think I wore my SU sweatshirt around the IU campus for a week.

The team that wins gets to "cut the net." This picture is Syracuse's head basketball coach Jim Boeheim holding up the net from the game they won to go to the Final Four. I hope I get to see this picture on my TV on Monday night! I'm getting ahead of myself because we still have a difficult game on Saturday against Michigan, but my prediction is that Syracuse will play Louisville in the championship game.
This post is not so random if you know me well, but its completely random for a style/fitness/lifestyle blogger! I hope you enjoyed your March Madness tutorial (aka my Syracuse mishmash).
